Jewelcrafting is WoW’s newest profession. Added by Blizzard in this expansion, it involves cutting gems in order to put them into gear or using them to craft rings, necklaces, and trinkets. To find these gems, Jewelcrafters use their main skill, Prospecting, on any gathered ore, destroying it in the process. Once you cap, you’ll be able to craft powerful designs like Relentless Earthstorm Diamond, Figurine - Living Ruby Serpent, or The Natural Ward.

Because of all the ore needed to create bars and find gems, Mining is the most complementary gathering profession a Jewelcrafter can choose. If you don’t, just know that splitting materials with Blacksmithing and Engineering can potentially raise the cost of metal bars on your server. And finally, Jewelcrafting is suitable for all classes and races, given its potential to buff players of all builds.

Any craft  will have a color code :

  • Orange: 100% chance of increasing skill level.
  • Yellow: Moderate chance of increasing skill level.
  • Green: Low chance of increasing skill level.
  • Gray: No chance of increasing skill level.

2. Which class should learn Jewelcrafting ?

Everyone without exception. All classes can enjoy the effects of potions and when we see the prices at the AH, we will sometimes be happy to be able to concoct them ourselves. Everyone needs potions of healing, mana and others, both PvP and PvE. Against some high level bosses, magic resistance potions will also be often welcome!

Here are some examples of  useful potions:

4. Leveling Jewelcrafting 1-300

Now that we have all of the materials, these are the things you need to craft to reach 300 Alchemy. Some skills turn yellow before hitting the desired level and the numbers may be off by a point or two due to good/bad luck. Here we go !

First, visit any trainer in the main cities of Azeroth. You may just ask a guard, and learn Alchemy. Once it’s done, you can buy some [Crystal Vial] at "Alchemy Supplies" vendors, they are usually near the Alchemy trainer. Learn Apprentice - up to 75.

You must return to a profession trainer in order to learn the next rank to keep increasing your skill:

  • Apprentice - up to 75
  • Journeyman - up to 150
  • Expert - up to 225
  • Artisan - up to 300

However, for the "Expert" and "Artisan" skills, only 1 master is able to help you progress.

For the "Expert" skill, meet Dr. Herbert at Undercity on Horde sides, and at Ainethil in Darnassus for the Alliance

For the "Artisant" skill, meet Rogvar at the Marsh of Sorrows for the Horde and Kylanna Windwhisper in Feralas (Pennelune Bastion) for the Alliance.

Here is the list of all the steps to level up your Alchemy profession from 1 to 300, in the most efficient and economical way.

1-60
Craft 59 x [Minor Healing Potion] :

Keep these to do the next points.

60-105
Craft 50 [Lesser Healing Potion] :

Learn [Journeyman Alchemist] in between these levels.

105-110
5 x [Elixir of Wisdom]:

110-140
Craft 30 x [Healing Potion] :

This recipe will be yellow for the last 5 points, so you might have to make a few extra.

140-155
Craft 15 x [Lesser Mana Potion] :

You might have to make a few extra.

Once 150: Appointment with Dr. Herbert at Undercity on Horde side, and at Ainethil in Darnassus for the alliance to learn the "Expert" skill

Make [Fire Oil] if you don't have [Stranglekelp] or if [Firefin Snapper] is cheap. You could also continue to make more [Healing Potion].

155-175
Craft 20 [Greater Healing Potion] :

175-185
Craft 10 x [Mana Potion] :

185-205
Craft 20 [Elixir of Agility] :

If you don't have any Goldthorn at all, you can make [Nature Protection Potion] between 190-215 instead.

[Recipe: Nature Protection Potion] is sold by these vendors.

205-215
Craft 10 [Elixir of Greater Defense] :

215-240
Craft 25 [Superior Healing Potion] :

You can make this one up to 250 if it's easier for you to get Sungrass instead of Blindweed.

For the last few points, so you might have to make a few extra. Just let’s do it until you are 240.

240-250
Craft 10 [Elixir of Greater Intellect] :

250-270
Craft 20 [Elixir of Detect Demon] :

270-285
Craft 15 x [Elixir of the Sages] :

285-300
Craft 15 [Major Healing Potion] :

Buy the Recipe: Major Healing Potion recipe, sold by Evie Whirlbrew in Everlook.

You might have to make a few extra.

5. Congratulations, you reached lvl 300!

After this, feel free to farm some recipes in dungeons which will help you to get ready for raids like Recipe: Major Rejuvenation Potionle that you can acquire in Motlen Core !

You will have to go to Tanaris to buy Recipe: Transmute Arcanite and create your Arcanite Bar that will bring you a bunch of money!

You can also recreate the 2 potions that are very much in demand by the players, and once Silithus comes into play with the Raid Aq20 / 40: Greater Nature Protection Potion that is essential for the raid!
