WoW Forever: Blizzard Finally Makes Classic+ Official

This is undoubtedly one of the biggest BlizzCon 2026 announcements for the WoW Classic community. Blizzard has officially unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever, a new experience built on the foundations of the original World of Warcraft while introducing completely new content.

In other words, the concept players have called “WoW Classic+” for years is finally becoming a reality.

📅 Global release: November 4, 2026
🧪 Beta begins: September 17, 2026

✨ What Is World of Warcraft: Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever keeps the core foundations of Vanilla WoW: Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, progression to level 60, a world where exploration matters and a strong focus on community.

Unlike traditional Classic progression servers, however, Forever is not designed to simply repeat the Vanilla → The Burning Crusade → Wrath of the Lich King cycle.

Instead, Blizzard intends to continue developing the original Azeroth, gradually adding new adventures, locations and challenges while preserving the identity of early World of Warcraft.

That is essentially the concept the community has associated with a true Classic+ experience for years.

🆕 More Than 1,000 New Quests and Tons of New Content

Blizzard is planning a significant amount of new content for the launch of WoW Forever.

The game will feature:

  • 🗺️ 3 new zones

  • 📜 more than 1,000 new quests

  • ⚔️ 9 new dungeons

  • 🐉 2 new raids

  • 🌟 new talents and abilities

  • 🤝 new reputations

  • 🎁 new items and rewards

  • 🧬 new race/class combinations

  • 🪽 a new playable race: the Skyborne

Some existing Vanilla zones will also be expanded or reworked, giving Blizzard room to develop Azeroth without abandoning the original world that made WoW Classic so popular.

🐉 Two New Raids to Expand Level 60 Endgame

The iconic raids from Vanilla will remain part of the experience, but WoW Forever will also introduce entirely new endgame challenges.

Blizzard has announced two new raids, designed for groups of 10 to 20 players.

The goal is to continue delivering fresh PvE content without constantly raising the level cap or moving the entire player base into another expansion.

Forever will therefore be able to introduce its own bosses, mechanics and stories while remaining firmly rooted in Azeroth.

🪽 The Skyborne Join Azeroth

One of the biggest surprises from the announcement was the reveal of the Skyborne, an entirely new playable elven race.

This neutral race will feature:

  • 🏝️ its own starting zone, Zephras Isle

  • ⚔️ several available class combinations

  • 📖 a storyline created specifically for WoW Forever

Introducing a completely new race into a game inspired by Vanilla shows that Blizzard is willing to take significant liberties with WoW's original timeline in order to create a new branch of Azeroth's history.

🔥 Level 60 Will Remain the Core of the Game

Perhaps one of the most important decisions behind World of Warcraft: Forever is that the maximum level will remain 60.

Rather than returning to an expansion cycle that continuously increases the level cap, Blizzard plans to focus on more horizontal progression.

Future updates can therefore expand Azeroth with new:

  • 🗺️ territories

  • 🐲 raids

  • ⚔️ dungeons

  • 🎒 gear

  • 🌟 talents and abilities

  • 📜 quests and storylines

Characters will continue to progress without previous content automatically becoming irrelevant every time a new chapter arrives.

For many players, this is exactly what WoW Classic+ was always supposed to be.

🧩 WoW Forever Becomes WoW's Third Major Experience

Forever will not replace WoW Classic.

Blizzard now intends to maintain three distinct World of Warcraft experiences:

  • 🌌 Modern World of Warcraft

  • 🕰️ World of Warcraft Classic

  • 🌍 World of Warcraft: Forever

Players who enjoy progressing through WoW's historical expansions will therefore still be able to play Classic, while Forever follows its own timeline and receives completely new content.

This gives Blizzard a dedicated space to experiment with and expand the Vanilla experience without fundamentally changing the other versions of the game.

📅 When Does WoW Forever Release?

World of Warcraft: Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026.

As with WoW Classic, access to the base game will be included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time.

The first beta phase begins September 17, 2026, less than two months before the official launch.

📚 WoWIsClassic Guides Will Be Useful Once Again

For regular WoWIsClassic readers, Forever's direction is particularly interesting.

With the adventure still focused on Azeroth and progression capped at level 60, much of our existing Vanilla content will remain an excellent starting point when preparing your characters.

You can already find:

  • 🧭 our 1-60 leveling guides

  • 🔨 our 1-300 profession guides

  • ⚔️ our class and specialization guides

  • 🎒 our tips for optimizing progression and gearing

Of course, the arrival of new zones, quests, talents and equipment will also require plenty of updates.

WoWIsClassic will follow the evolution of Forever and gradually update its guides for this new version of Azeroth.

🚪 Blizzard's Classic+ Finally Has a Name

For years, the community has wondered what WoW Classic could become if Blizzard decided to continue developing Vanilla instead of simply replaying the game's previous expansions.

We finally have an official answer: World of Warcraft: Forever.

With more than 1,000 new quests, three new zones, nine dungeons, two raids, a new playable race and progression still centered around level 60, Blizzard is preparing one of the biggest evolutions of the Classic experience since its return in 2019.

The big question now is just how far Blizzard intends to take this new branch of Azeroth.

🔥 See you in November to begin a brand-new level 60 adventure.
